Riddle 1

Have you managed to decode the Morse code recording of Morguethi’s phone call to one of his friends?
Here is the transcript of the message: “Hi William, I wanted to hear from you (you can hear knocking). Kate! Kate! Stop it! Beep Beep Beep.”

Here’s what happened: When Moguethi left this message for his friend, he was weakened by the injuries Kate had inflicted on him a few days earlier; it was now the day after he had had the stitches out.
Just as Merguethi is making the phone call, he is attacked and killed. The blows he has just received have knocked him unconscious, he is on the verge of losing consciousness, his vision is blurred, he thinks he sees Kate.

Riddle 2

Did you make the connection between where you were and the solution to the riddle? The link is “military”!
The war memorial is a place of remembrance for soldiers who lost their lives in war.

Here’s what happened: After Kate’s attack, Morguethi was wounded and went to see Peter Nills (whom he had known for a long time), to have the wound on his torso stitched up. The next morning, Peter went to work and left Morguethi home alone. He told him to go away, that he didn’t want to find him there when he returned and that he never wanted to hear from him again. Morguethi leaves and calls a friend, leaving a message on his answering machine.

Riddle 3

After looking for and finding the various stain marks on the south side of St Pierre’s church, we had to find the word: pistol.
At this point in the puzzle, we learn that Morguethi was shot dead.
Here are the marks you had to find on the church:

Riddle 4

The difficulty was a little greater here, as you had to find point 4, invisible on the map!
The place to find was the shop of florist Françoise Mazet at 21 Boulevard du Dr Cabanès!
The riddle to solve was in the window. We had to find out what type of molecule had been found on the victim’s jacket.

Here’s what happened: As indicated, the items found on the victim’s jacket were analysed. Here you had to find out which molecule corresponded to the raw formula you had – your location was a clue!
In fact, the correct answer is “Plant pigments” (and you were in a florist’s shop, so that must have helped!). So traces of plant pigments were found on the victim’s jacket!
Explanations: C15: grey molecules – H10: white molecules – O7: red molecules

Riddle 5

The clue to the location of the next riddle was in the investigation file: “find the shoe that fits” – you had to go to a shoe shop! The “Babouch’K” shop is at 41 Boulevard Mainiol.
The riddle to solve was in the window.

The solution was: 37
That should have put you on the killer’s trail! Who wears size 37? Only Agent Mailk and Sarah Alho.

Puzzle 6

The last riddle wasn’t so simple! It gave you the clues to find the scene of the crime. We asked you to go to point 6. What was that point? You had to go to the Jardins du Sénéchal.

The wheel was pointing you there:
If Q = A
then…. you had to find the word: GARDEN

Z = J, Q = A, H = R, T = D, Y = I and D = N

We now know that Morguethi was seated in the Jardins du Sénéchal, and not where his body was found, i.e. behind the church of St Pierre.
The answer to puzzle 4 should have tipped you off as to where the crime took place.

Now you have all the information you need to find out what happened and who killed Morguethi!
Who wears a size 7 shoe? Who could have been in possession of a pistol? Who had a motive to kill him? And who could this killer’s accomplice be?

That's what happened!

It was Sarah who murdered Morguethi!
Sarah had heard that Morguethi had attacked Kate a few days earlier. From that moment on, she was going to be on her guard.
That morning, Sarah got up very early, and in the narrow streets of Gourdon, she seemed to recognise Morguethi’s silhouette.
She went to follow him and when he was busy on the phone, Sarah drew her gun and shot him in a matter of seconds.
At that moment, they were in the Jardins du Sénéchal.
Morguethi thought he would find peace and solitude there while he prepared his escape.
Since Sarah had joined the shooting club, she had acquired a weapon: a pistol. A gun that she carefully kept with her at all times, for fear of being mugged.
Sarah decided that the opportunity was too good and that it was time for Morguethi to pay for all his crimes! She thought that Samantha would finally be able to rest in peace and that she herself would be able to live with peace of mind.
The crime has been committed! Morguetti is dead, lying on the floor in front of her.
Once she had recovered her senses, Sarah already regretted her act and told herself that taking revenge herself was certainly not the best solution and that she would never be able to live with this crime on her conscience. She wants to take responsibility for what she has just done, but before calling the police to turn herself in and report the murder, she calls her father to explain everything that has happened and what she is going to do next.
But Tom Alho doesn’t see it that way. He doesn’t want his daughter to spend the rest of her life behind bars because of a thoughtless act, a murderous impulse, revenge!
So he goes to meet Sarah at the Jardins du Sénéchal and does everything he can to change her mind about going to the police.
He devises a stratagem and becomes her accomplice, helping her to move the body and making all the incriminating evidence disappear.
Tom thinks that everything is perfect… the perfect crime… and that Morguethi got what he deserved.
After that, everyone goes about their business as best they can, without arousing suspicion, and hoping that no one will ever find out what really happened!
